Azure Portal: Sql Dw Query Performance Metrics
In this blog, we will be discussing how to login to the Azure Portal and view performance metrics for SELECT queries. This is helpful for understanding how your SELECT queries are performing and identifying any issues.
To login to the Azure Portal, click the “Login” link in the top-right corner of the page. Once logged in, click on “Data Services” on the left-hand side panel. In the Select Query section, you will see performance metrics for your SELECT queries. Below is a screenshot of the Azure Portal displaying query performance metrics for a SELECT statement:
To view additional information about a specific metric, select it from the list and click on “Details”. The Details window will display detailed information about that metric. Below is a screenshot of the Details window for a SELECT metric titled “Execution Time”:

Login to Azure Portal

To login to the Azure Portal, open https://portal.azure.com in your browser, log in with your Microsoft account (hotmail,live,outlook etc.), and then click My Profile. In the My Profile section of the portal, click Connections from the left nav bar. This will open the Connection Manager window. On the left side of this window, select Select a connection type from the dropdown menu and then select SQL Database from the list on the right.
In the Connection Manager window, under Connections, select your connection and then select Queries from the Action pane on the right side of this window.
You will see a list of all active SELECT statements against your SQL Database connection. You can measure each query by clicking on it and then selecting Properties from the ribbon menu. The Performance tab in this dialog box will show you detailed information about how long it took to execute your query and how much data
