How to use the Dorset Planning Portal

How to find information in the Dorset Planning Portal
To get started in the Planning Portal, you will need to login. You can do this by clicking on the Login link at the top of any page. Once you have logged in, you will be able to find information about your planning area, including: recent planning applications and decisions, maps and diagrams, public consultation results and more.
How to request a planning permit
In order to request a planning permit from Dorset County, you will first need to login to the Planning Portal. From here, you can create an account and begin the permitting process. The following steps outline how to login and request a permit:
1. Go to www.dorsetcounty.ma.us/planningportal/.
2. Click on βCreate an Accountβ on the right hand side of the screen.
3. Enter your name, email address, and password in the appropriate fields and click on βCreate Accountβ.
4. Once you have created your account, you will be brought to the home page of the Planning Portal. From here, you will need to log in with your username and password that you created in Step 2 above. If you have forgotten your username or password, please contact them at [email protected].
5. After you have logged in, you will see the βMy Planning Portalβ page which lists all of your active planning permits as well as any pending requests that are related to those permits. Click on the βRequest a Permitβ link next to the permit that you would like to request
How to submit an application for a development variance
If you want to submit an application for a development variance, you'll first need to login to the Dorset Planning Portal. To do this, go to the main menu and select "Planning Portal." From here, click on "Applications" in the left column and then "Development Variance Applications." You'll be prompted to log in. If you don't have an account yet, you can create one by clicking on the "Create Account" button. Once you've logged in, click on the "Submit an Application" button in the top right corner.
To submit your application, you'll first need to fill out a basic application form. This will include information such as the address of the proposed development, your contact information (including your email address and phone number), and a brief description of what the development would consist of. You'll also need to provide photographs or drawings of the proposed development if they exist. 1. Write to the Secretary of the Planning Committee, setting out your reasons for appealing and mentioning the case number of the particular plan that you're unhappy with.
2. Send copies of all relevant documents, including any letters from neighbours or other interested parties, to the Secretary of the Planning Committee.
3. Wait for a response from the Secretary of the Planning Committee, and then follow their instructions if you want to appeal the decision in full.
